The recognition is to be based upon sustained contributions to the information security community, the advancement of the Association, and the enhancement of the professionalism of the Association’s membership.

Roger Younglove, CISSP pioneered the efforts to start the ISSA-Motor City Chapter in 1999. He believed there was a need and sufficient interest for a local Chapter, based on his queries to those he knew in the Security industry within in the Detroit area. By January 2000, he enlisted several people to assist him, called a meeting and founded the chapter. Since then the first round of officers were selected, and meetings from February to May of 2000 formalized the chapter.

Regular meetings were established during this period, with speakers on current popular security topics. Roger attended the national meeting in Florida, in March 2000 for the purpose of meeting other chapter officers and discussing what has made other chapters successful. He served as ISSA Motor City President for two years. He has continued on the Board as Past President, and as Membership Director for the ensuing 10 years. He also served at the national level as Chairman of the Awards Committee for three years. It was his job to make sure the various awards that are available were presented to qualified individuals.

Among his avid rolls as a leader of ISSA Motor City, Roger assisted in the creation of local regional chapters in Lansing, MI, Grand Rapids, MI, Oakland County, MI, and Toledo, OH. He provided guidance on By-Laws, spoke at Chapter meetings, suggested speakers, and was always readily available for support and assistance. Roger has been a readily available mentor for all succeeding chapter officers, assisting without forcing his own opinions.

He has continued to be an active, influential leader in the Security industry, in his professional positions, his regular speaking rolls at national and regional Security events, and in his reputation with peers, clients, students, etc.

Roger’s professional Security experience includes specialization in IPSEC and PKI. He worked in the Program Office as a Senior Consultant on the Automotive Network Exchange at General Motors/TEK Systems and was responsible for the technical implementation of ANX. Roger also implemented PKI systems and provided security Consulting for AT&T, Fishnet, and other organizations in the automotive and health care industry.

When learning about this prestigious award, Roger commented, “I was floored” and wished to “thank all who had a hand in this”.

Roger will be accepting his award on September 16, 2010 at the ISSA International Conference in Atlanta, GA.
